6 Things To Know Before Bringing E-Cigarettes Abroad>

Non-smoking policy. Cigarettes and e-cigarettes not forbidden.

Are you itching to go abroad with your vaping device? Well, before you do, know the following to prevent getting yourself in trouble:

1. Know That Vaping Is Illegal In Some Countries

Vaping is illegal in Vietnam and Thailand. Getting caught with a vaping device in Thailand can get you imprisoned for ten years or make you pay a hefty fine. Some other countries where it’s illegal to vape are the following:

CambodiaEast TimorThe GambiaMyanmarNicaraguaNorth KoreaQatarSingaporeVatican City

On the other hand, some countries like the United States have fuzzy laws about vaping, and regulations may vary from state to state. When you’re in countries like that, it’s best that you use your vape discreetly or when you’re alone in your room or the place where you’re staying at.

2. Bring Your Supplies And Get A Prescription

Countries like Turkey, Malaysia, Australia, and Japan prohibit the sale of e-liquids with nicotine—or any product with nicotine without any nicotine prescription. However, it’s legal to vape in those countries.

So, before you go, you may want to bring a pack of your favorite e-juice and a few bottles of salt nic. However, some countries like Australia are highly restrictive. There, you need to have a prescription from a local doctor to carry or bring nicotine-containing substances legally.

Another thing to note: despite the policy regarding nicotine in those countries, there are still shops that sell them illegally. While it’s easy to source nicotine juice from those shops, it’s ill-advised to do so. So, whenever getting e-juice, be sure to check if the bottle you’re getting is nicotine-free to avoid having any complications during your travel.

If you’re traveling to Australia with vaping products or a heavy nic vaper, be sure to bring your supplies. Or better yet, acquire a prescription for nicotine online before you even book your flight.

3. Decide Where You’ll Store Your Vape And E-Juice

Deciding where to place your vaping kit can be a hassle. You can put your device and juice in your carry-on luggage for short trips. Know that most airlines will only allow up to one liter of liquid with you.

Also, each bottle shouldn’t be bigger than 100ml, and they should be stored in a clear resealable bag. This means that you can carry at least 300ml–500ml of juice, considering you’ll bring personal toiletries with you as well.

For long trips, it’s best to place your kit on your carry-on and leave all your juice in your checked luggage. Be sure to store your juice in a resealable plastic bag to avoid accidental mess.

4. Bring Extra Batteries And Electrical Adapter With You

You don’t want to be stuck in your hotel room charging your devices during a trip. Of course, you’d like to make the most out of your trip abroad by exploring and visiting places you want to visit. Because of that, you need to bring one or two days’ worth of batteries with you. Moreover, never forget to bring an electrical adapter—a must for every traveler.

5. Don’t Try To Sell Your Unit Abroad

Even if it’s legal to vape and bring your vaping device with you to your destination, there’s a high chance that selling vaping kits, units, or juice is illegal there. Take note that many countries have this kind of setup. Selling your vape isn’t worth the risk of getting fined or jailed.

6. Vape Discreetly And Smartly Abroad

Vaping being legal in a country doesn’t mean it’s unrestricted or entirely accepted. As much as possible, vape in places you rent. However, before you even rent or book a room, immediately ask the travel agency, booking company, or property owner if they’re okay with you vaping in their units. And of course, if the place is tagged as non-smoking, don’t even dare to try puffing a few hits.

Know that you shouldn’t only focus on the legalities of vaping in a country on a national level. Some municipalities and cities may have local ordinances that restrict vaping anywhere. Moreover, some hotels may charge or even call the police if you get caught, especially if you trip their smoke detector or fire alarm. So, if possible, you should do ample research and don’t be afraid to ask locals about vaping.

Also, if vaping or smoking is allowed in your room, be sure that windows and exhaust fans are open. If the unit you’ll stay in has a balcony, quell your vaping needs there.

Conclusion

Vaping laws in other countries are confusing. As a traveler, being aware of what’s legal and illegal is a constant annoyance, but it’s part of the experience. Regardless, do your research first on your destination’s laws before you book your flight.
