Things To Do in Stowe, Vermont in the Summer and 48h of Activities
Mountains in stowe vt in summer
Stowe, Vermont, is not only a winter’s paradise. Not anymore, at least. Today the area is incredible for summer and a must-visit during autumn when Vermont’s famous fall foliage is in full swing. That’s why I wanted to share with you my experience and list the things to do in Stowe Vermont in the summer.
Stowe town is an adorable place that is at the foot of two peaks (Spruce Peak and Mount Mansfield – the tallest peak in Vermont) that are part of the Green Mountain Range. The town is teeming with hotels, inns, and restaurants.
However, Stowe Mountain Lodge and Resort is probably the best choice, simply because you can arrive here and not see your car again until it is time to go. In other words, this is where all the action in Stowe takes place.

Even if you’re not staying at the resort, chances are most of your activities will be centered around this spot.
Things To Do in Stowe, Vt In the Summer
Hiking Spruce Peak
This is kind of a given. Being surrounded by such nature, even if you’re not an avid hiker (like me) you will find plenty of super easy, mild trails that will connect you with nature and ignite a love for hiking (even if a teensy bit).
Spa Time
Stowe Mountain Resort has one of the largest, most varied spas I’ve ever visited in any hotel. You can literally spend days enjoying the different treatments. They even have some for kids.
Mount Mansfield Toll Road
This is a must-do while visiting the area. If you’re staying at the Lodge they have a special deal for their guests. You can take out any of their Mercedes Benz fleet for a test drive all the way to the top, or other places. They have a free rental surprise. Plus, if you’re staying at the Resort you get 20% off the entrance to Toll Road.
48 Hours in Stowe, Vermont
Day 1
When you first arrive in town, either staying at the Lodge or at another hotel, simply getting adjusted to the place and walking around the town or lodge is a good way to get the feel of the land.
I recommend hiking from the first day. This way, if you want to continue on more trails (which are all free and open to the public) you can do more on the following day.
Stowe Mountain Lodge has a great restaurant – Solstice, but the town itself has tons of fun places to eat. And enjoying a bit of the nightlife, with or without kids, is a treat to do.
Day 2
Toll Road drive. This is one of the best things you can do in the area. Driving up to the top of Mount Mansfield overlooking the entire Green Mountain Range is difficult to express in words and is best done, live. Plus, you can take some of the most famous trails from here, including the Long Trail.
This will take at least four hours, so you’ll have plenty of time after lunch to enjoy the spa treatments. Or just hanging out by the pool.
When visiting this area, you don’t want to overdo it too much. Just being here, and sitting outside enjoying the fresh Vermont air and the incredible scenery, is spectacular.
