TODAY'S ADVENTURE
Children’s Museum of Manhattan: Facts, Exhibits and MoreWhen I lived in NYC I never thought of it as a kid-friendly city. The fact that I was single and childless helped reinforce that at every corner. However, when I first came back to visit with my two boys a few years ago, I was beyond impressed with all there was to do for kids of all ages. Especially the museums. In this post, I’m going to talk about one of the best museums for toddlers in NYC, the Children’s Museum of Manhattan
My oldest son, who is a huge art lover, and I’m certain he will become a curator one day, wanted to re-visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art. We visited this museum the year before and even though we all loved it, my baby was bored out of his mind. So this year, my oldest had his heart set on going to the MET, so I told him to go with his grandparents and I planned a great day for me and my little man.
The sad and honest truth is, and I know many parents with more than one child can relate, is that you don’t get to spend one-on-one time with your youngest kids as much as you’d like. Usually, all the kids are involved. So that fact that my oldest boy was going to have a blast with his grandparents, I jumped on the opportunity to connect with my baby boy.
There isn’t too much one can do with a four-year-old so when I discovered the Children’s Museum of Manhattan (CMOM) and reading about it, I knew this would be perfect for our day together.

Why Manhattan Children’s Museum is Perfect for Kids Six and Younger
We’ve been to many children’s museums in the span of my kids’ lives. Surprisingly, Central America has awesome museum for kids. However, the museums here are for ‘all ages’. Meaning that kids from three to twelve will find plenty to do. But in reality, the older kids are the ones that benefit the most since most of the exhibits are meant to be read and if you’re too small sometimes you can’t do them.
CMOM is probably the only museum I have ever heard of that is perfect for toddlers to six years old. All the exhibits were his height level, and he was able to do them all.
The building is four floors full of different exhibits and themes
We saw all about nutritious foods and body parts
And plenty of slides
Hands on interactive attractions
Puzzle solving
Music Oriented exhibits
And a chance to practice playing musical instruments
Outdoor and Water Fun
In the summertime, they also open the outdoor area. It was blisteringly hot and this little water exhibit area was just what we needed.
The parents got to sit in the shade while the kids either fished, played with water toys or just ran around.
