Turks And Caicos To Lift Pre-Departure Testing And Proof Of Health Insurance

As of May 1, the Turks and Caicos Tourist Board will no longer require pre-departure Covid19 testing for fully vaccinated travelers.

The move also implies that travelers will no longer be not compelled to present proof of health insurance or fill out a form on the TCI Assured Portal either.

From this day forward, travelers 18 years of age or older will only be required to present proof of vaccination (printed card or electronic) at the airport, both upon departure and arrival in the Turks and Caicos Islands. No other documents are required.

“We are delighted to make it easier for travelers to rediscover Turks and Caicos. Throughout 2021 and the first quarter of 2022, we saw strong visitor numbers from our largest source market, the United States and we believe the measures announced today will boost numbers further in 2022,” said Pamela Ewing, the director of tourism for the islands.

The easing of restrictions is a major step forward thanks to the ongoing vaccination campaign and security measures in Turks and Caicos.

More than 80% of the adult population has been fully vaccinated to date. furthermore, a fourth dose of the Covid-19 vaccine is currently being distributed to residents throughout the country, with priority given to the elderly and immunocompromised.

In its most recent assessment, the CDC designated the Turks and Caicos Islands as a “Level 2” travel destination, indicating a “moderate” level of COVID -19 transmission in the community. At the same time, it recommends US visitors to have their coronavirus vaccinations up to date before visiting the islands.

While masks are no longer necessary indoors, wearing a KN95 or N95 mask is still recommended for self-protection and to protect others from pre- and asymptomatic Covid.

The islands have now joined a list of Caribbean destinations that have eased entry restrictions. These include St. Lucia, which has removed all pre-entry testing for vaccinated travelers, and Aruba and Grenada, which have removed all COVID -19-related entry restrictions.
